Since 1968, the Manizales International Theater Festival -FITM -(Festival Internacional de Teatro De Manizales) has been held in the capital of the department of Caldas, considered the oldest performing festival in Latin America, a vital space for theatrical expression, which attracts theater companies from all over the world, mainly of the Spanish-speaking sphere.
 
For a week, the streets, squares and theaters of Manizales are transformed into vibrant stages where contemporary, classic, experimental and street theater plays are presented. 

The festival provides a platform for local, national and international artists to share their talent, explore new forms of expression and encourage cultural exchange. 

Street programming, with presentations by local and international theater companies in emblematic points of the city such as Plaza de Bolívar or Parque Ernesto Gutiérrez, makes theater accessible to everyone and helps democratize culture.
