Since colonial times, when Santa Fe was the main city and capital of the province of Antioquia, the festival known as “Los Diablitos” has been celebrated there during the last week of the year.

This celebration has its origin in the slave population of the region who, taking advantage of their day of rest, disguised themselves with masks to avoid being recognized and took advantage of their anonymity to play jokes on the town's residents.

In this sense, the name does not come from the devil in its religious sense but in its meaning of mischievous.

Currently Los Diablitos is celebrated with a massive parade in which Santafereños cover their faces with colorful clay masks hand-painted by local artisans, thus maintaining the ancestral tradition that gave rise to this festival.

Likewise, during the nine days that the celebration lasts, parades of floats and troupes, parades for children and mask-making workshops for the festival are held.

You can also enjoy live music and the best of local cuisine, in one of the most beautiful towns in the department.

Los Diablitos de Santa Fe de Antioquia not only preserve a unique and colorful tradition, but also strengthen the cultural identity of the municipality and attract visitors, promoting tourism and the appreciation of the cultural heritage of the region.
