Every November the municipality of Toledo, about 170 kilometers north of Medellín, celebrates its "Fiestas de las Toldas Toledanas", which has become the main celebration in the town's festive calendar.
For five days, Toledo residents enjoy a wide range of activities such as the traditional heeled race in which couples participate and must run through the streets of the town wearing heels and holding hands.
Also typical of these festivals is the roller cart race, a characteristic event of several festivals in Antioquia.
In addition to this, cultural exhibitions of music and dance, sports competitions with soccer, volleyball, table tennis and basketball tournaments are held, and you can enjoy live music with guest artists on the stage of the main park.
These festivals not only celebrate the cultural identity of Toledo, but also promote tourism and strengthen the local economy.
The Toldas Toledanas Festival is a manifestation of the festive spirit and hospitality of the people of Toledo, consolidating itself as an essential tradition in the cultural calendar of northern Antioquia.
