In January, the town center of Jiguales, within the jurisdiction of the municipality of Yotoco, dresses up to celebrate the Carnival of Blacks and Whites, an event inspired by the one celebrated in Pasto.
The days of blacks and whites, with their traditional face painting and celebration with flour, talcum powder and foam, are the central moments of the holidays.
The carnival includes colorful parades, where local troupes walk the streets in traditional costumes and decorated floats, showing the creativity and festive spirit of the community. In addition, artistic presentations, concerts with local artists and special guests and typical dances are held, which give life to the party.
The Jiguales Black and White Carnival (Fiesta de Blancos y Negros de Jiguales ) is a cultural manifestation that strengthens the sense of belonging and social cohesion in Yotoco, promoting diversity and respect among its inhabitants.
