In July, Cali hosts the International Tamborimba Percussion Festival (Festival Internacional de Percusión Tamborimba), an event born in 2007 to disseminate different artistic proposals around percussion. It is currently one of the most important specialized percussion festivals in Latin America.
The festival, which brings together a large number of renowned national and international artists, alternates its artistic and academic agenda.
Every day there are concerts and conferences and workshops on the world of percussion. In different stages of the city you can see presentations with a wide variety of instruments little known to the general public such as vibraphones or Mexican marimbas.
The conferences deal with topics such as the history of instruments and their perspectives, and instrumental and composition workshops are held.
The event not only promotes traditional Colombian music, such as Afro-Colombian rhythms from the Pacific and the Caribbean, but also presents musical innovations from international artists, creating a space for cultural and artistic exchange.
The Tamborimba Festival (Festival Internacional de Percusión Tamborimba) not only celebrates music, but encourages the learning and appreciation of percussion, consolidating Cali as a cultural and musical epicenter in Colombia and Latin America.
