The International Corrío Llanero Contest (Torneo Internacional de "Corrío" Llanero) is the largest festival in Vichada, recognized in the region as the greatest example of "Vichadense" culture and tradition.
It is celebrated annually in the first week of April since 1987 in Puerto Carreño, Vichada, with the "Corrío" as its protagonist, a strong rhythm written in octosyllabic verses, representative of the eastern plains.
This festivity arises from the need to promote and protect the cultural elements of the local culture, being promoted by the cultural managers Elías Hurtado, Hugo Mantilla Trejo, José Curbelo, Luís Antonio Robledo, Carlos Orlando Acosta, Gustavo Mojica and Rodolfo Falla.
The festival includes various events such as contests in voice modalities, Creole passage, strong rhythms, copleros and dance couples, as well as the international pageant, coleo days, the llanerazo and samples of typical Vichada gastronomy, including llanero barbecues and concerts of national and international artists.
This festival not only celebrates the "llanera" culture of Colombia and Venezuela, but is also a space for llaneros and visitors to integrate and enjoy the hospitality and vigor of the people of this region.
