Holy Week, celebrated in the historic city of Santa Cruz de Mompox, is one of the most important and traditional religious commemorations in the country. Declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation, this festival stands out for its deep devotion and cultural richness.

During Holy Week, Mompox becomes a scene of solemnity and fervor, keeping alive customs that date back to the colonial period and that are strongly influenced by Andalusian culture, resembling the Holy Week traditions of cities like Seville and Malaga.

The processions, which run through the cobblestone streets of the town, are characteristic of these days. The most anticipated of these is the one known as the "El Paso Robao" procession, whose origin is found in the ancient rivalry between the religious orders of the Augustinians. and Franciscans.

During this procession, images dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries are carried, including an image of Jesus the Nazarene from France that is considered miraculous.

Holy Week in Mompox is not only a manifestation of faith, but also an occasion for visitors from all over the country and abroad to experience Mompox hospitality and discover its cultural heritage. The festivities contribute to the strengthening of local identity and the promotion of tourism, making Mompox a spiritual and cultural destination of great importance.
