Every July the municipality of Ciénaga, Magdalena, celebrates the Guillermo de Jesús Buitrago Guitar Music Festival, a musical event declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation, founded in 1997 and named in honor of that great musician and composer from Ciénaga.

The central event of the festival is the competitions. One of the guitar trios is held in the children's, amateur and professional categories in which young and experienced guitarists compete showing their skill and versatility with the guitar.

An Unpublished Song contest is also held, which aims to motivate young composers and expand the popular repertoire.

In addition, the festival includes workshops and talks, which address the history of coastal music and the influence of the guitar on the different musical genres of the region. Craft and gastronomic fairs are also held where you can appreciate the cultural richness of the region.

The Guitar Music Festival not only exalts the musical culture of Ciénaga, but also strengthens the cultural identity of the region, promoting the preservation of musical traditions and the emergence of new generations of musicians.
