In El Retorno, a municipality north of Guaviare, just 30 kilometers from the departmental capital, the El Garcero Festival takes place every February, an event that honors local culture.
The festival has a varied program with activities such as horseback riding, cycling tours, gastronomic fairs and the emblematic Garzopódromo, a space in which couples and dance groups from different parts of the Colombian Orinoco region participate, showing their skill in the joropo dance.
The livestock exhibition is another of the central events of the festivities, giving a space to local livestock breeders to exhibit their best specimens. There is also live music with performances by local artists and great exponents of international popular music.
In recent editions of the festival, artists of the caliber of Jessi Uribe, Paola Jara and Jorge Celedón have performed at El Retorno.
The "El Garcero Festival" is an opportunity to exalt the customs of the eastern plains, strengthen the sense of identity and promote tourism in El Retorno.
