In early October, the municipality of Lejanías, located on the banks of the Guape River in the eastern foothills of Meta, celebrates its Fruit and Coffee Festival (Festival Frutícola del Llano y del Cafe). This event allows the people of Lejanías to honor the agricultural wealth of their municipality, where a wide variety of products are harvested thanks to the diverse climatic zones within its jurisdiction.

The main event of the festival is the Fruit Parade. Cart vendors travel through the town's streets, displaying colorful designs made with locally produced fruits.

The carts showcase images related to the daily life of farmers, biodiversity, or national symbols, all crafted with oranges, lemons, papayas, pineapples, cocoa, bananas, avocados, and other fruits generously provided by the fertile land of Lejanías.

In addition, the festival features horseback rides, cultural displays of traditional music and dance with "joropo" as the star, as well as contests showcasing locally produced coffee.

The beauty pageant, with contestants from all parts of the municipality, is another major attraction of the festival, along with concerts by nationally renowned guest artists.

The Fruit and Coffee Festival in Lejanías is not only a celebration of agriculture and local products but also an event that strengthens community pride and cultural identity, attracting visitors from across the region.
