In August, the municipality of Campoalegre, located about 30 kilometers south of Neiva, celebrates its traditional Rice Festival (Festival Folclórico y Cultural del Arroz), a celebration with over 40 years of tradition in which the people of Campoalegre pay homage to their most emblematic product.
The festival, which lasts for two weeks, offers a diverse cultural and recreational program. The pageant is one of the central events, with candidates from all corners of the municipality participating, showcasing both their beauty and their knowledge of Campoalegre's history and culture.
Parades are another highly anticipated part of the festival, with the “Mojiganga” parade, which closes the festival, being particularly iconic.
There are also agro-industrial, craft, and food fairs where attendees can find typical regional products such as tilapia, cocoa, and coffee.
Live performances by local artists enhance the festive atmosphere that fills Campoalegre. The Rice Festival in Campoalegre (Festival Folclórico y Cultural del Arroz) not only promotes pride in this important agricultural activity but also strengthens the cultural identity of the municipality, fostering unity among its residents and attracting tourists to the region.
