Annually since the late 1980s, usually at the beginning of November, the Cordiality and Peasant Festivals (Fiestas de la Cordialidad y El Campesino) have been celebrated in Gómez Plata, a festival with which the municipality pays tribute to its agricultural vocation and the characteristic friendliness with which its inhabitants They welcome strangers.

During a weekend, Gomezplatenses and visitors can enjoy different activities that highlight the culture and traditions of the municipality, such as the characteristic parade of theatrical troupes, in which hundreds of amateur actors with colorful dresses and makeup walk through the streets of Gómez Plata. Many times the parade is so numerous that when the troupes leading the procession reach the end of the route, the last ones have not yet finished leaving.

Likewise, agroindustrial fairs are held that seek to promote the consumption of local products, so the Cordialidad Festivals are the perfect opportunity to taste local gastronomy.

You can also enjoy a typical festive custom of the municipality known as “crazy cows” in which figures shaped like cows are dragged through the streets filled with small firecrackers and flares that explode as the cow advances among the people.

The "Fiestas de la Cordialidad y el Campesino" not only celebrate the cordiality, the friendly spirit of the town and the sense of community, but also promote tourism and the economic and cultural development of Gómez Plata.
