In August, Apartadó celebrates the "Fiestas de La Antioqueñidad", a festival that pays tribute to the culture and traditions of all the regions of the department, and is celebrated on the 11th in commemoration of the proclamation of the independence of Antioquia in 1813.
The central event of the day is a massive parade led by young people from the different educational institutions of the city in which the typical costumes of the department are displayed.
The Aburrá Valley and the coffee-growing area of the Southwest are represented, with the characteristic Aguadeños hats, ponchos, carts, machetes, as well as the colorful dresses characteristic of the Urabá culture or the typical costumes of the indigenous peoples of the region.
They also wear elaborate costumes that celebrate the fauna and the typical myths and legends of the department, as well as chairs and floats with motifs alluding to emblematic products such as coffee and bananas. The parade features live musical performances that encourage attendees.
This celebration not only strengthens the sense of identity and regional pride, but also promotes tourism and social cohesion, consolidating itself as a significant event for the community of Apartadó and its surroundings.
