In June, around the "Sampedrina" festivals characteristic of the department of Caquetá, the Festival of Cultural Traditions “El Gran Pirarucú” (Festival de Tradiciones Culturales el Gran Pirarucu) is celebrated in Morelia, which takes its name from a freshwater fish characteristic of the Amazon, which was introduced in Morelia. in the 1990s and has become a symbol of the municipality, having a monument in the town's main park.
 
During the festival, activities are carried out such as sports competitions, cultural displays of music, dance and typical costumes where the traditional Sanjuanero Caqueteño shines, craft and local business fairs and parades of floats and troupes, as well as a nautical parade on the Bodoquero River, a central element in the life of Morelia. 

In the same way, a pageant is carried out, traditional of the San Pedro festivals in Caquetá, in which candidates from different parts of the municipality compete for the crown of Cultural Ambassador of Morelia, showing both their physical beauty as well as their friendliness and their knowledge about the local history and culture.
