Between the end of July and the beginning of August in Amalfi, a municipality in the Northeast of Antioquia, about 140 kilometers from Medellín, the Judged Equine Festival (Festival Equino) takes place, supervised by the Association of Horsemen of Antioquia ASOCABA.

The event takes place in the municipal coliseum where more than 250 equine specimens from local and regional farms are judged by qualified ASOCABA judges in the modalities of trot, trail and gallop.

In the same way, the traditional parade is carried out through the streets of the town, with its characteristic grid layout that has earned the town the nickname of the “urban chess of Antioquia.”

This is an occasion for locals and visitors to appreciate the beauty and elegance of the participating horses.

This festival not only celebrates the importance of horses in the economic and cultural life of Antioquia, but also promotes tourism and the local economy, strengthening the sense of identity and regional pride.
