Every November, Yopal, capital of the department of Casanare, hosts the "El Garcero Del Llano" Festival, an event whose main objective is the promotion of Llanera culture among new generations. The festival, born in 1993, was declared the nation's cultural heritage in 2012.

The students of the educational institutions of Casanare are the protagonists of the festival, since they are in charge of the execution of the different cultural manifestations characteristic of the eastern plains that can be enjoyed in this event, such as female and male passage voice, strong female and male voice, dance partner in the "joropo" criollo category, unpublished male and female poem, unpublished song and llanera dance.

The boys and girls are also in charge of designing the promotional sheet for the event, which is chosen through a contest in which more than 200 students participate, showing off their artistic points and creativity.

Likewise, workshops are given for teachers on history and plains culture.

This festival is not only a celebration of local culture, but also a space to preserve and promote the customs of the region, strengthening identity and the sense of belonging among the youngest, being a key space for the revitalization of local traditions.
