In mid-October, Armenia celebrates its traditional *Fiestas Cuyabras* in commemoration of the city’s anniversary, founded by Jesús María Ocampo and a group of Antioquian settlers on the 14th of the month in 1889.

The "Fiestas Cuyabras" (Cuyabra Festivals), named after the term used for the inhabitants of Armenia, pay tribute to the city’s culture and have become one of the most anticipated events on the festive calendar of the Quindío capital.

During the festival, the streets of Armenia come alive with color, music, and joy, featuring a program that includes parades, dance troupes, pageants, and concerts.

The "Yipao" Parade is one of the most awaited events, where traditional Willys jeeps—symbols of transportation in the Coffee Region—parade loaded with products like coffee, plantains, household items, and even people, showcasing the skill and creativity of the drivers.

Music is also a highlight, with performances of popular music in traditional "fondas" (rustic bars) and "trova" contests, a genre of improvised verses traditional to the Antioquia region.

There is also the "Reinado Popular Cuyabro" (Popular Cuyabro Beauty Pageant), food fairs featuring typical dishes from the Coffee Region, and sports competitions.

These celebrations provide an opportunity to promote tourism, culture, and the economy of Armenia, as residents celebrate their heritage and strengthen their sense of community around their "cuyabro" roots.
