In mid-January, the Coconut Festival (Fiestas del Coco) is celebrated in Necoclí, a tribute by the people of Necoclí to this fundamental product in local gastronomy and crafts.
For five days the town is the scene of a wide range of activities that include gastronomic fairs and contests for the best product made with coconut, the popular corralejas, dance competitions and fairs in which small local artisans and entrepreneurs can exhibit and sell their products.
The Coconut Festival reaches its climax on the penultimate day of the festival, in which a famous parade of floats and troupes and the final parade and coronation of the National Queen of the Coconut Festival take place.
Likewise, within the framework of these festivities, concerts are held that in recent years have featured artists of the stature of Jessi Uribe, Nelson Velásquez and Jorge Celedón.
The Coconut Festival (Fiestas del Coco) is one of the most anticipated events throughout the year for Necoclians and are also a perfect opportunity to stimulate tourism in the area and publicize local talent and products.
