In January the municipality of Valle del Guamuez in the department of Putumayo celebrates its Black and White carnivals (Carnaval por La Paz), a traditional festival in the southwest of the country.
 
The central events of the festival take place on January 5 and 6 with Negos Day and Blancos Day respectively, emblematic celebrations of these holidays. 

"Negros (Black) Day" is marked by the parade in which the townspeople paint their faces and enjoy live music; On "Blancos (White) Day", a colorful parade is held in which the Valleguamuense artisans show all their talent and creativity with elaborate floats that pay tribute to the biodiversity of the region, its culture and the myths and legends of the indigenous peoples. of the area. 

In addition to these celebrations, a beauty pageant is held during the carnival, featuring candidates from different populated centers within the municipality, along with concerts, craft fairs, and food exhibitions highlighting the typical dishes of the Amazon region.

The Carnival of Valle del Guamuez is an expression that strengthens the sense of belonging and pride in local traditions, promoting community cohesion and tourism in the area.
