In mid-December the town of Carepa in Urabá Antioquia celebrates its anniversary, commemorating ordinance 7 of December 15, 1983 by which the town was erected into a municipality, in what is also known as the Papagayo and Return Festivals. .
Carepenses can enjoy a varied program during these days including live music with special guests and local talent, gospel concerts characteristic of the Christian communities in the area and cultural displays with dances, folk music and typical costumes of the region.
One of the most anticipated moments of the festivities is the neighborhood meeting in which Carepen residents in other cities in the country meet again with family and friends and participate in the traditional neighborhood parade, exhibiting the town's own culture and customs. Horseback rides and dawn rides with fireworks shows are also organized.
