In mid-July, the municipality of Filandia, located about 30 kilometers from both Armenia and Pereira, celebrates the traditional Camino del Quindío Festival, a festival that pays tribute to this ancient royal road that connected the west with the center of the country, as well as to the traditions of this region and the architectural and natural beauty of the Coffee Cultural Landscape.
During the holidays, the balconies of the houses, of the typical architectural style of the Antioquian colonization, are decorated with flowers, dressing the town to the delight of locals and tourists.
The craft fairs and bejuquería workshops allow attendees to learn in depth about the basket, the town's emblematic product, its tradition and its production process.
The parade that takes place on Saturday is one of the central events of the celebrations: participants dress in typical costumes of the time and recreate the customs of the old settlers, accompanied by troupes, floats and folk music.
The Willy Jeeps, traditional to this coffee-growing region, cannot be missing from the parade.
The "Camino del Quindío Festival in Filandia"is a celebration that strengthens the sense of identity and belonging, highlighting the cultural heritage of this beautiful coffee region, while promoting tourism and the local economy.
