Baranoa, originally founded in 1543, was erected as a municipality by Ordinance 11 of October 23, 1856. On those dates, the Baranoans celebrate the anniversaries of their town in commemoration of this event.

The festivals have a varied program that pays tribute to the culture and history of the municipality. Fairs are held where local artisans have the opportunity to publicize and sell their products, as well as art fairs with works by local artists such as paintings, sculptures and jewelry.

There are also cultural exhibitions with music, dance and typical costumes of the region, gastronomic fairs that offer a sample of delicious coastal cuisine and a fireworks show that illuminates the anniversary night.

These celebrations not only strengthen the sense of identity and belonging among Baranoeros, but also attract visitors from other regions, promoting tourism and the local economy. The Baranoa Anniversary Festivals (Festival Efemérides de Baranoa) are, in essence, a tribute to the history, culture and community spirit of this charming municipality.
