In the first month of the year, the anniversary festivities of Puerto Leguízamo(Aniversario de Fundación de Puerto Leguizamón) are celebrated, a municipality founded on January 22, 1920 with the original name of Caucayá.
Sports take the holidays. soccer, volleyball and basketball championships are held, as well as athletics, skating and cycling races. The gastronomic fair is one of the most prominent spaces of these festivities.
In stalls installed outdoors you can taste the delicacies of Puerto Leguízamo such as catfish, cachama or pirarucú, among many other species of fish that abound in the area, casabe and different sweets and preparations based on chontaduro.
With a solemn Eucharist and formal acts with the presence of public forces, the inhabitants wish their people a happy birthday, highlighting the pride of being Leguizameños.
