The African Heritage Festival (Festival de La Herencia Africana ) is a crucial event that celebrates the social, cultural, and business integration of the Afro-Colombian community, highlighting its vital importance in building a new Colombia.

This festival is held annually in May in the city of Cali and other municipalities in the Valle del Cauca department, with support from the Valle del Cauca Governor's Office.

Since its creation, the festival has been an intercultural space promoting knowledge, appreciation, and reflection on the historical, social, cultural, economic, political, educational, and religious contributions of Black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal, and Palenquero (NARP) communities.

During the festival, attendees can enjoy gastronomic, musical, artisanal, and cultural showcases presenting the expressions of Afro-Colombian communities, highlighting their heritage as an integral part of national folklore and culture.

The program includes a variety of intercultural artistic activities, workshops, exhibitions, and the Miss Afrodescendant Pageant, one of the main attractions of the event.

This festival is not only a celebration of Afro-Colombian cultural richness but also a call for respect for diversity, peaceful coexistence, and the elimination of racism, recognizing the valuable contribution of African heritage to Colombian identity.
